Low Level Laser Therapy

Back and joint problems are common, but each person’s body is different. At the Carrollton chiropractic office of Dr. Peter Lazarnick (Dr. Pete), we recognize that no two people will respond in exactly the same way to the same treatments, which is why we offer several complementary therapies. Among the most popular of our non-addictive, non-invasive interventions is low level laser therapy. Undergoing it is easy on the patient and an example of our philosophy of putting the body in the best position to heal itself.

Inflammation is one of the body’s common ways of responding to an injury. Soft tissues such as joint lining swell up, becoming more permeable to antibodies and restricting the movement of a joint that may be degenerating. However, there often comes a point when inflammation ceases to be helpful, but doesn’t stop, and in some chronic conditions, the inflammatory response is being triggered unnecessarily. Low level lasers are one of our means of reducing inflammation, allowing more nutrient-rich blood to flow into an area to heal more quickly

Low-level lasers don’t burn, but they do interact with the part of the body they’re passed over. The laser is emitted by a hand-held device that is slowly applied to an area over a matter of minutes. As the laser’s radiation reaches below the skin, the capillaries dilate, allowing blood to circulate more freely. This helps to relieve pain and swelling from chronic conditions such as tendonitis, arthritis, and bursitis as well as acute injuries to ligaments and spinal discs. Although most patients need several sessions, laser application can be done in a visit along with other complementary therapies, such as adjustments and electric muscle stimulation.
